Episode 16

16. Stop Waiting Until "Monday" To Launch Your Podcast

Published on: 3rd November, 2023

If I had a nickel for everytime someone told me they have been sitting on their podcast idea for years... I wouldn't need this business to support me.

The truth is, it takes intention, strategy, focus, and most times some support to get your podcast launched.

In this episode I just want to remind you that it's not about you- it's about the message you have to share with the world and the impact you are here to make. Waiting to get started only hurts the very people who you are here to serve with your message and your work.

Stop waiting until "Monday" to start the podcast or do whatever it is that you want to do, Monday just turns into Tuesday and then the next day, and the next day, and then you look up one day and its been YEARS. But not you, that ends today. Reach out if you need support, I'd love to help you get your vision out into the world.

Thanks for listening :)

Transcript
Speaker:

I just got off a call with.

2

:

A client, and it got me all kind of fired

up and I wanted to talk about waiting

3

:

until Monday to get your podcast launched.

4

:

I wanted to talk about and remind

you that it's not about you.

5

:

So I was talking to this client

and we were, I was really coaching

6

:

her through some of the nuances of.

7

:

Are not the nuances, but like,

why, what takes so long to

8

:

get your podcast launched?

9

:

Why she hasn't launched her podcast yet.

10

:

And something that she said to me really

resonated with me and really made me

11

:

think about everyone else in my audience.

12

:

And it really made me think about you.

13

:

And it made me think about what is the

real reason why you want to do this.

14

:

And something that she said was,

I really want to do this because I

15

:

know that I have So much to share.

16

:

I know that what I have to

share is very impactful.

17

:

And I know that I'm supposed to

do this and I get so caught up in

18

:

everything else that I'm doing.

19

:

I get so caught up in life.

20

:

There's life things that are happening.

21

:

There is.

22

:

, actual work.

23

:

There's things that are going on.

24

:

And I feel like I just don't have time to

do this and I'm just getting caught up.

25

:

And so I'm not getting it done.

26

:

And one of the things that I did in our

call was just bring her back to , what

27

:

she said about how she feels that she

is here to make such a big impact.

28

:

And that's why she wanted

to start her podcast.

29

:

And I just looked at her and I was like,

how long have you been wanting to do this?

30

:

And she was like, two

years, I've had the idea.

31

:

And I'm like, so for two years, you've

been sitting here getting in your own

32

:

way, not getting your podcast launch.

33

:

When you know that you've

been called to do this.

34

:

And we did talk about.

35

:

Spiritual God things and that

she feels like she was called

36

:

to from a faith perspective.

37

:

And I just want to remind you

that this is not about you.

38

:

This is about the people

who you are here to impact.

39

:

This is about the people

who are waiting for you.

40

:

There's literally people that are

waiting for you and your message

41

:

and what you have to offer.

42

:

And it brings me back.

43

:

And lately I've been having

this sort of coming homeness and

44

:

Kristen being Kristen Carver Smith.

45

:

We're talking about this another day.

46

:

And how there's just this call to

like, come back home to who you are.

47

:

And it just reminded me of why I

started doing this in the first place.

48

:

Like, I just didn't just come out

on the scene, just loving podcasts.

49

:

I didn't come on the scene just wanting

to do podcasts and be a podcast producer.

50

:

It was never about that for me.

51

:

What it always was about was I

started a podcast and I looked around.

52

:

Well, I started a podcast and I started.

53

:

Creating impact.

54

:

And people were listening and people

were saying, Angie, I did X, Y, Z

55

:

because of you, Angie, I was able to get

out of this situation because of you.

56

:

Like this really changed

my perspective on this.

57

:

This really changed my life.

58

:

And I was like, dang, I'm like

making an impact and it felt amazing.

59

:

And then I started looking around at

the people around me and I was like,

60

:

there's so many amazing women who are.

61

:

In my world, so many amazing women in my

world who are powerhouse women who have

62

:

these beautiful messages and have so much

to offer and , to put out into the world.

63

:

And they need podcasts.

64

:

They need to use this platform because

I've seen how powerful it is and

65

:

how much impact that you can make.

66

:

And I've seen how it works.

67

:

And so that's what really prompted

me to even start doing this.

68

:

It's like, how much more of an impact

could I have if I I get all these, my

69

:

gang of people who are with me and I help

them create impact with their messages.

70

:

And it's not just me creating

impact with my message.

71

:

How much more impactful could I be?

72

:

And that was the main driver of me,

even starting this podcast business,

73

:

even wanting to produce podcasts.

74

:

It's always been about

how do we create impact?

75

:

How do we put these powerful messages?

76

:

How do you reach the people who

you really are wanting to reach?

77

:

And what I'm seeing is a lot of people

who are getting in the way they're letting

78

:

life get in the way they're letting,

they're getting in the way of themselves.

79

:

They're worried about being perfect.

80

:

They're worried about

it being the right time.

81

:

They're worried about, not having

the time they're worried about so many

82

:

other things and they're getting in the

way of getting this out into the world.

83

:

And like, I'm about to be like,

it is blocking your blessings.

84

:

But like, Maybe because there's

so many things that can open up

85

:

from a podcast that you couldn't

possibly even imagine that are going

86

:

to happen once you open the doors.

87

:

And once you start sharing your

message, and once you start putting

88

:

your podcast out, there's so many

things you'll get into so many rooms,

89

:

there's so many unexpected things

that will happen when you watch this.

90

:

And so by you holding yourself back from.

91

:

Whatever it is, and I'm telling you right

now, if you've been thinking about this

92

:

for years, you need to get support,

like straight up, like what, like, you're

93

:

not going to launch this on your own.

94

:

So, hi, hello.

95

:

And there's always going to be

something there's always going

96

:

to be something in the way.

97

:

It's never going to feel

like the right time.

98

:

And that's just the nature of it.

99

:

Because this feels like this has to be

this extra thing that you're doing in

100

:

your business or this extra thing that's

over here on the side when truthfully,

101

:

you can make this all work for what

you're doing in your business right now.

102

:

You can make this all work

for where you want to be.

103

:

And that's a beautiful question to ask

yourself is where do you want to be?

104

:

Where do you want to be?

105

:

Can you imagine if you got started now?

106

:

And you started building that

thought leadership, that credibility.

107

:

People have told me they

want to be on stages in:

108

:

They want to write books in 2024.

109

:

They want to be in more media in 2024.

110

:

And so it's like looking ahead, what's

next for you and for your business.

111

:

This is a platform that can be.

112

:

That for you, this is a platform that can

be that building your own stage before

113

:

you're going on and doing those things.

114

:

It's going to open those doors for you

to build your thought leadership, build

115

:

your credibility and your authority in

your space so that you can have more of

116

:

those doors open for you in 2024 and 2025.

117

:

But what happens when you don't, Take

that next step, what happens when

118

:

you are waiting, you could either

be on the way there, or you could

119

:

still be in the same place in a year

and which one feels better, which

120

:

one do you want for your brand?

121

:

Like, is it worth taking the time to

invest into this, which is building

122

:

your brand and building your thought

leadership and building your credibility.

123

:

Is that worth the time for where

you're trying to go in:

124

:

And I understand that

that might not feel like.

125

:

It's the most urgent thing to do right

now, but I implore you to think ahead

126

:

to where it is that you want to be.

127

:

And how is it going to feel to

go a whole nother year without

128

:

getting , this podcast done

that you've been wanting to do?

129

:

How is that going to feel for you?

130

:

And I guarantee if you do have it

done, you're going to feel a lot.

131

:

More proud.

132

:

You're going to feel you're

going to be building your stage.

133

:

You're going to be able to start

perfecting your craft because

134

:

listen, podcasting is a craft.

135

:

It's a skill.

136

:

It's something that you have to perfect.

137

:

It's something that you have to work on.

138

:

Okay.

139

:

So where do you want to be?

140

:

Beyond 2023.

141

:

It's not just about launching

your podcast right now.

142

:

It's like, where do

you want to be in:

143

:

So don't wait, start building

your authority, start

144

:

building your credibility.

145

:

And if you need support,

you need to get support.

146

:

And chances are you need support.

147

:

If you haven't done it, you've

been wanting to do it for years.

148

:

You need support.

149

:

The last thing I want to see you do is.

150

:

Come out on the scene.

151

:

There was a podcast group

that I was just dead.

152

:

And someone was talking about how

they wanted to grow their podcast.

153

:

And there was a guy who hopped on there

and he was like, well, you know, I,

154

:

that's the wrong way to look at it.

155

:

If you are podcasting, you should

podcast for the love of podcasting.

156

:

And I've been podcasting for three

years and I've got 20 people coming

157

:

to my podcast and I'm sorry, but I

don't want you to be in that situation.

158

:

Like, I'm sorry, but your message.

159

:

The impact that you're meant to

make is way bigger than just having

160

:

20 people for three years and

staying in the same exact spot.

161

:

Like, I want you to, if you're going to

do this, I want you to double down on it.

162

:

I want to highlight your brilliance.

163

:

I want you to be able to step

out on the scene and have this be

164

:

something that you could be proud of.

165

:

That's growing your brand and building

your business and not just something

166

:

where you are doing it for the love of it.

167

:

How about both and?

168

:

Both and we love this and we're doing

this because we want to create an impact,

169

:

but we can't create an impact if we're

sitting behind the mic , and we only

170

:

have 20 people and we're never growing.

171

:

So it's important to start out

and do this in the right way.

172

:

That's important.

173

:

So get the support.

174

:

How do you stand out world.

175

:

It seems like everybody has a podcast.

176

:

All these people are starting podcasts.

177

:

You know how you stand out, you be

exceptional, you be exceptional.

178

:

And it's not very hard to be

exceptional in this space.

179

:

It's not very hard.

180

:

It's a matter of being consistent.

181

:

It's a matter of honing your craft.

182

:

It's a matter of getting the right

support to be exceptional, to be an

183

:

exceptional show, to understand how to

craft your episodes, to understand you.

184

:

How your content, how to craft it's

smart content that it's going to work

185

:

for your business, but also highlight

your brilliance and your expertise.

186

:

It's got to be both and right.

187

:

And so that's what it's

like to work with an expert.

188

:

That's why it's important to

work with somebody who knows

189

:

what they're doing, because , you

have to be honest with yourself.

190

:

Are you just going to be happy

just to get this out there?

191

:

, do you want to get this

out there and rank?

192

:

Do you want to rank in the top five?

193

:

Like my podcast ranked in the

top five when it launched.

194

:

Do you want that?

195

:

That shit feels good.

196

:

I'm not gonna lie.

197

:

That feels good.

198

:

Do you want that?

199

:

Do you want to be sitting here three

years and having the same listenership?

200

:

Do you want to come out on the scene and

get lots of followers when you come out?

201

:

Like I have, like I gotten, so

now every time I release a podcast

202

:

episode, I have hundreds of people

who listen to it without me even

203

:

having to say a word about it.

204

:

I don't have to come on social media

and say, go listen to my podcast.

205

:

And I do because I that's what I do,

but I don't have to, I can still have.

206

:

Lots of people who, because I did an

initial launch that was really successful.

207

:

I have a good following

on the podcast platform.

208

:

Every time I release an episode,

hundreds of people go and listen

209

:

way more effective for me than even

doing this live video on Facebook.

210

:

Way more effective, way more people

listening and consuming the entire thing.

211

:

Since I've been sitting here and I've

been doing this, I've seen people

212

:

pop on, pop off, pop on, pop off.

213

:

People don't do that on podcasts.

214

:

You know that a lot of my podcast episodes

have 100 percent consumption rates.

215

:

Majority of my podcast episodes have

a hundred percent consumption rates.

216

:

The average is like 86%, but my podcast

episodes have have a hundred percent

217

:

consumption rate, majority of them.

218

:

That means that everybody

who is landing on my podcast

219

:

episodes are listening to them.

220

:

Why?

221

:

Because I know I'm, I'm

positioned really smart.

222

:

I know how to position myself.

223

:

I know how to create content,

and I know how to be engaging

224

:

and create and develop a podcast.

225

:

Episode where people can follow along

and they are getting something out of it.

226

:

And I'm giving them value and

I'm nurturing my audience.

227

:

I know how to do that.

228

:

And I want that for you to the way

that you stand out in the podcasting

229

:

space is to be exceptional.

230

:

The way you stand out is to treat this

like a craft that you have to hone.

231

:

The way you stand out is to hire

somebody who is an expert that can

232

:

help you based on what your goals are.

233

:

And I know that your goals are

bigger than just let me just have

234

:

20 people come and listen to this.

235

:

Let me just get this out here

and launch it dirty so that.

236

:

I can just say that I have a podcast.

237

:

I know you want to build your brand.

238

:

I know you want this to be an

extension of your brand and your

239

:

brand in a way to elevate your brand.

240

:

And it's not going to elevate your brand.

241

:

If your messaging isn't elevated

and targeted correctly, if your

242

:

content isn't right in your podcast,

if you have no idea how to develop

243

:

podcast episodes on your own, it's

not going to give you the results

244

:

that you are wanting it to give you.

245

:

It's just not.

246

:

And I've seen it time and time again,

and people will launch their podcast

247

:

and then they are starting and

they're doing their own little thing.

248

:

And then they disappear

off the face of the earth.

249

:

And it's because their podcast

is not generating for them.

250

:

Any return on investment

is not returning anything.

251

:

And it happens so often.

252

:

So what I have learned is,

because I used to be team, I

253

:

used to be team, launch it dirty.

254

:

I did.

255

:

I even had a training.

256

:

We talked about the day

when I was with my client.

257

:

We had, I have a training that's called

launch it dirty for your private podcast.

258

:

And I used to be team, launch

it dirty, ugly, nasty, whatever.

259

:

And now I'm team launch it.

260

:

Right.

261

:

Launch it smart.

262

:

Take that time because it is so valuable

to you and your growth and your podcast

263

:

growth and you're building your brand

and building your thought leadership.

264

:

If you do this in the right way,

so , let an expert, let me help you

265

:

develop what that content is for you.

266

:

Let me help you position your show.

267

:

Properly, let me help you develop

your episodes so that you can actually

268

:

hone your skills of podcasting.

269

:

Cause it is a skill,

especially interviewing.

270

:

It is a skill that you learn

and that you can get better at

271

:

and better at and better at.

272

:

Let me help you get it actually

done and out into the world.

273

:

So you're not sitting here next year.

274

:

I know so many people, people have

been in my world since I started

275

:

doing this four years ago, who are

still sitting on their podcast idea

276

:

and haven't done jack shit yet.

277

:

Think about all of the people they

could have impacted in this time.

278

:

Think about all the people that

are waiting to hear from them.

279

:

Think about all those people.

280

:

Think about all that they

could have accomplished.

281

:

They could have a

million downloads by now.

282

:

They could have a book

deal from their podcast.

283

:

They could have gotten on so many

different stages from their podcast.

284

:

If they had just started four years ago.

285

:

And that's what I want for you.

286

:

So get the support so that we

can elevate your brand with this.

287

:

So that this is not just something

that you are throwing up.

288

:

And out there a shot in the dark.

289

:

Let's elevate your brand.

290

:

Let's make it work for your business.

291

:

Let's help you get sales from this.

292

:

Let's help you get your return

on investment that you deserve

293

:

from putting the work into this.

294

:

So right now,

295

:

this is what I wrote

down, wrote this down.

296

:

The way that we're putting podcasts

off, we're going to do it next year.

297

:

So right now we're at this point

it's Q4 and you might think that

298

:

you're too late to get this done

and you're going to do it in:

299

:

I've already started hearing some of this.

300

:

I'm going to do it in 2024.

301

:

It's literally like saying

that you're going to start your

302

:

diet on Monday for some of you.

303

:

It's like saying you're going

to start your diet on Monday

304

:

because , you're waiting for the

right conditions to get started.

305

:

And the right conditions are

never going to exist for you.

306

:

But it's always that thinking

that the right conditions

307

:

are going to happen Monday.

308

:

I could do this on Monday.

309

:

And so that's the same thing that's

happening for us with our podcasts.

310

:

It's, we think we're going to start

on Monday because that's going

311

:

to be better conditions for us.

312

:

We think, okay, we got to do it 2024

instead of doing it right now, because

313

:

in my experience, that 2024 turns into,

, now we're going to do it in:

314

:

And then it's 2026 and we look

up and there's still no podcast.

315

:

So if this is something, you know, that

you're called to do, get on my calendar.

316

:

Get in my DMS, and let's get this

podcast launched for the end of

317

:

this year, like, let's get it

going and let's get it together.

318

:

You can do this.

319

:

And I am here to support you.

320

:

So, . I hope that you will take this to

heart and actually take action on what

321

:

you're meant to do here in the world and

what impact you're meant , to have in

322

:

the message that you're meant to share.

323

:

I hope that you will take action on that.

324

:

And I hope you have a good day.

grow your business, sell your offers, get paid.
Want to start a podcast for your business but you think things like:

“Podcasting is the long game “
“I don’t have time to start another thing right now”
“You can’t monetize unless you have lots of downloads”
“I don’t know if I have enough to say”
“I’m not sure I can be consistent”

Well this podcast is for you. In Podcast That Pays you are going to learn strategies for how to use podcasting to grow your business, how to sell your offers right from your podcast, how to create content on your podcast that warms your leads up making them ready to buy, and why you don’t need a big audience or fancy equipment to get started.

Your host Angie Jordan runs a podcast consulting and production agency where she has helped hundreds of online coaches, course creators, and business owners start podcasts to market their business and sell into their courses, mastermind, and even high ticket programs- right from their podcast.
